What is the GACL?

The German-American Citizens League (GACL) is an umbrella association for more than forty organizations in the Ohio Valley with the common bond of interest in German-American heritage and culture. The Händlmaier Mustard Club is a proud member of the GACL.

The GACL was founded in 1895 with the mission to preserve, maintain and advance German heritage in the Greater Cincinnati area. It is a (501) c 3 non-profit organization.

The current home of the GACL is the German Heritage Museum, located at 4764 West Fork Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. If you’d like to help support the Museum, please see below.

Friends of the German Heritage Museum

The German Heritage Museum serves as the focal point in presenting and displaying German-American history and culture in the region. It is the first of its kind in the area, and a testament to the many contributions German immigrants and their descendants have made to the making of America.

The Museum is housed in a log home at 4764 West Fork Road in Cincinnati, Ohio. It focuses especially on representing the long history of German-Americans in the Greater Cincinnati area, which became, and remains one of the major German-American centers in the United States. In addition, displays also showcase the activities of the many Organizations currently under the umbrella of the GACL.

The Friends of the German Heritage Museum (FGHM) was formed to support the German Heritage Museum and was established by and is affiliated with the GACL, which maintains the Museum.

FGHM invites the support of all who are interested in the German Heritage Museum and wish to ensure its continued success for future generations. Contributions will support the Museum, as well as its ongoing educational programs and activities in the Greater Cincinnati area. The GACL is a (501) c 3 non-profit organization, so any monetary gift is tax-deductible.

We strongly encourage all those interested in the German Heritage Museum to become a member of the FGHM! Friends of the Museum may also wish to volunteer as guides at the Museum or assist in locating items for donation to the Museum.
